Stop Living with Low Back Pain; Start Healing it
Back pain is one of the most widespread disorders on the planet. Many people simply aim to treat symptoms using self-care techniques such as heating pads and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Alone, these home remedies can produce sporadic results. A combination of spinal manipulation and self-care techniques prescribed by a chiropractor is the best way to create lasting change in the body.
What Causes Chronic Lower Back Pain
There are various causes of lower back pain in the human body. While acute cases are generally caused by minor strains; more chronic cases of lower back pain can be caused by herniated disks, sciatica, and degenerative diseases. These cases are associated with their own symptoms, which are long lasting and more severe than acute strains.
General Lower back pain symptoms include:
- Ongoing pain which flares from time to time
- Pain ranging from a constant ache to excruciating
- Pain worsened by standing or sitting
- Pain that radiates into buttocks and thighs regularly
- Pain relieved by frequently changing positions
- Stiffness or loss of flexibility
Chronic cases of lower back pain may never go away on their own. If left untreated, chronic pain can make it hard to function normally, and may even lead to symptoms of depression.
Treating Lower Back Pain with a Chiropractor
Though there are numerous causes of lower back pain, treatment options are often similar. While some people turn to surgeries and steroids, others turn to more holistic alternatives to treat their chronic lower back pain, such as implementing chiropractic care.
At the core of any healing regimen for lower back pain is a chiropractor. A chiropractor helps to reset the spine and back muscles through manual manipulation. This realignment helps to decrease pain and improve the physical function of the spine. Without a proper healing regimen, however, these adjustments will only provide temporary relief.
Exercise is vital in nearly every case of lower back pain. Your chiropractor may show you numerous low impact aerobic exercise, such as walking or swimming, to helpstrengthen, stretch, and condition your back.
As much as being “on the go” is part of our daily lives, rest is a key factor in relieving back pain. Taking a few days to rest can help your nerves, muscles, and ligaments to heal.
Treating pain is an important factor of any healing program introduced by your chiropractor. Pain treatment can focus on using heat and ice packs to dull or soothe the pain, as well as temporary use of NSAIDs for more intense pains. Your chiropractor can help you create a working treatment plan for your lower back pain.
