Here are a Few Brilliant Ways Pets are Secretly Helping Their Owners Live Healthier Lives

Pacific Beach Chiropractic

Are you thinking about getting a pet? Well while you’re considering that major life

decision, take a look at the many ways pets can benefit your health:

1. May lower cholesterol, reduce blood pressure and reduce your

cardiovascular disease risk

If you have a dog, you will most likely being doing a bit of walking, which is

good for you heart. Oh, and pet owners tend to live longer!

2. Help Relieve Stress

Petting our beloved pets causes us to release the relaxation hormone and

also cuts down on levels of the stress hormones. Not to mention the fact

that it sooths your pet as well!

3. Boost your fitness

Having a dog will keep you moving. You’ll need to take him/her out

morning noon and night which will definitely get you off that couch! Plus,

who doesn’t love to see their dog enjoying the great outdoors?!

4. May prevent allergies in children

Babies living in pet households are less likely to develop allergies. They also

don’t seem to develop as many colds and ear infections as babies living in

pet-free households.

5. Relieve depression

Having a companion helps many people cope with depression. It also gives

them a reason for being. Pets rely on their owners for everything, which

gives some people a cause. This boosts their self esteem and the time spent

with their animals gives them less time to focus on negative thoughts. An

animal’s love is unconditional and that’s all someone needs sometimes.

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to head out to the nearest shelter ASAP.

But seriously, having a pet is a major responsibility. However, if you are in the

condition to have one, both financially and schedule-wise, I strongly suggest it.

People are great, but no one can cheer you up like a pet. They need you and you

end up relying on them for a lot of things as well. Although the training of a pet

may be tough initially, nothing compares to the unconditional love and support

you will receive from them. And since it’s been proven that they can actually

improve your health, it’s pretty much a no-brainer.
